Invenergy opened its Center of Excellence (CoE) earlier this year, bringing four crucial business functions under one roof. One of those key functions is an industry-leading training facility that offers hands-on learning across clean energy technologies. This facility is helping to power careers in a growing industry and builds on Invenergy’s commitment to best-in-class training for the past 20 years. The CoE’s training facility will help trainees with varying degrees of experience learn how to troubleshoot issues in practical but controlled environments. Doing so optimizes project performance and drives value for the energy centers across Invenergy Services' fleet.
“Our hands-on approach gives technicians and site managers real-world experience with equipment they’ll see in the field, ensuring they’re ready to maintain our safety and performance standards from day one,” says Amy Hassen, director of Invenergy’s renewable training program. “The CoE training is designed to meet employees where they are whether you’re a car mechanic, electrician, recent graduate or already working in energy,” Hassen continued.
Invenergy Services has the capability to train more than 1,000 employees annually at the CoE — bringing employees from across Invenergy Services’ fleet in one spot to help them grow together. “Formalizing and centralizing our training at the Center of Excellence has made it more consistent and repeatable,” Hassen says.
Invenergy’s Center of Excellence is a game-changer for clean energy
To build the CoE’s classroom and hands-on learning labs, Hassen’s team compiled existing inventory from the field with newly purchased parts, equipment and components. Some of the learning labs are hand-built — and are permanently set up for trainees to learn on-the-job skills using real-world components from across clean energy technologies.
Safety is the number one principle of Invenergy training
In all CoE training, safety is a core principle of the curriculum. As a foundation, all Invenergy Services employees learn proper safety precautions throughout each course. The training team layers on top of that with safety-specific classes for every cohort. These principles are infused throughout the curriculum to ensure Invenergy employees learn the company’s safety culture as early — and as often — as possible.
Invenergy’s history of industry-leading training programs
The CoE wasn’t done in a vacuum — it builds on the company’s 20-year record of prioritizing high-quality classroom and in-person training for technicians with safety at the forefront. The training center streamlines Invenergy’s existing training programs and brings everything under one roof.
The evolution of the training program is proof of the company’s commitment to innovation — which is driven through its culture of continuous learning. The company is constantly optimizing the way it develops, owns and operates energy centers and preparing the next-generation workforce in a growing industry.
